She loved me when I took him off her hands.

When I stepped into the firing line she’d stood in for 46 years, she all but threw him at me.

Called me strong.

Said I was what he needed.

Truth is,

I was just the next

When her marriage ended, she left the Rhondda and started fresh.New town. New story.

No husband.

And no son under her roof.

She’d done her shift.

I was the night crew.

But when we broke up, the story changed.

Suddenly, she wanted him closer.

Wanted the ending to fit her version of things.

He tried it — for six weeks.Then came back, son in tow.

Because the peace he thought he wanted wasn’t as peaceful as he hoped.

She stopped speaking to him after that.

Maybe because the truth was too loud.It wasn’t about wanting him back.It was about control.

About rewriting history so she wasn’t left behind.A

nd when he returned to the mess he made with me?I became the villain again.

But this time?

They can have each other.

No soft landings.

No come-arounds.

No forgiveness on repeat.

I’m done patching up stories I didn’t write

While bleeding out between the lines.

Let them talk.

Let them echo their blame across whatever silence they share now.

I’ve got better things to do than walk into fires I didn’t light.
