I Found Her
By MissT. (POEM)
I searched for her in quiet rooms,
In soft goodbyes and half-lit moons.
In lovers’ eyes and broken vows,
In dreams I lost but kept somehow.
I looked for her in words unsaid,
In tears I swallowed back instead.
In all the things I tried to be—
For those who never noticed me.
She wasn’t in the hands I held,
Nor in the lies I once compelled.
Not in my mother’s bitter tongue,
Nor in the praise that felt half-done.
She wasn’t in my father’s gaze—
That distant, cold, familiar haze.
Not in the names that made me small,
Or men who left me with their fall.
I found her not in love denied,
But in the parts I tried to hide.
In truths I whispered late at night,
In standing still instead of flight.
She stirred within a sacred rage,
A fire quiet, breaking cage.
A voice unshaken, soft yet steel,
That taught me wounds can also heal.
She rose in lines I dared to write,
In choosing me, not just the fight.
In every “no” I wouldn’t bend,
In peace I did not have to defend.
She is not light they get to dim.
She dances on the broken rim.
She is the woman I became—
Unshamed, unnamed, unmade by blame.
I found her once.
I’ll find her still.
And now I rise by my own will.
If you’ve ever lost yourself in someone else’s shadow—
if you’ve ever bent so far you forgot your own shape—
know this: you are not gone.
You are still there, beneath the noise.
Still whole, still worthy, still becoming.
And when you find her—
the version of you that never needed fixing—
hold her close.
She is yours.
She is home.
She is enough.
