When they drink to cleanse their soul
But serve you nothing but an empty bowl
That’s not love.

When they take your heart like a transaction,
But never feed it with action
That’s not love.

When all they leave are crumbs on the table,
And promise banquets they’re not able
That’s not love.

When you give and they just take,
Seasoning every word with fake
That’s not love.

When you’re starving on the floor,
And they kick you, craving more
That’s not love.

When affection is withheld like bread,
And your hunger’s left unfed
That’s not love.

If the red flags keep on flying,
And your gut won’t stop its crying,
When your eyes see all his scheming,
Don’t fool yourself with dreaming.
That’s not love.

So push back from the table.
Get out. Walk away.
Don’t beg for scraps, don’t settle for crumbs.

Your soul was made to feast.
