From the Ashes to the Author: How I Rebuilt a Life Worth Living
by MissT

There was a time I couldn’t see the light.

Not because I didn’t want to—but because the darkness around me was too thick, too loud, too bloody persistent. I was surviving, barely. Holding families together, patching broken men, bending myself into shapes that made everyone else comfortable while I slowly disappeared.

I was a mother, a wife, a carer, a keeper of secrets, a soldier in slippers.

But I wasn’t me.

Years rolled on. Marriages came and went—each one leaving a different kind of bruise. I loved hard, I forgave too easily, and I mistook struggle for destiny. Somewhere in the chaos, I stopped dreaming. I was too busy firefighting my own heart.

Then came the day I cracked.

Not shattered—but cracked. And it was through that crack that the truth finally poured in:
No one was coming to save me.

So I did the unthinkable—I saved myself.

I wrote.
I cried.
I stared down the memories I’d buried under shame and silence.
I told the truth—raw, unfiltered, unashamed.
And somewhere between the heartbreak and the healing, I found her again. Me. The girl with the fire. The woman with the words.

I became MissT.
I told the devil I was driving.
And I published my story.

Now? I’m 54, single, sober from toxic love, and finally free. I spend time with my children and grandson, not apologising for resting or laughing too loud. I write from my soul. I’ve launched a memoir (Divorced, Damaged and Dangerous), a poetry collection (Ashes to Ink), and I’ve got more books inside me still waiting to be born.

And the best part? I don’t chase validation anymore.
I’m not here to be palatable. I’m here to be real.

This isn’t just a comeback. It’s a damn rebirth.
And I hope that if you’re reading this, standing where I once stood—
That you know it’s never too late to rise.
