The Madness in You
by MissT

I saw the venom in your stare
a serpent coiled behind your grin
The kind of smile that saints would fear
and sinners gladly drink within

I heard the silence in your laugh
a hollow sound too sharp too sweet
It echoed through cathedral walls
and curled like frost around my feet

I saw the envy in your step
your shadow longer than your name
The lies you breathed were perfumed smoke
and every kiss a crypt of blame

You wore your madness like a crown
all rusted thorns and blood-soaked gold
And I a fool knelt at your side
believing love could break your hold

I stitched my soul into your wounds
and still the voices slipped inside
I prayed I burned I tried to save
but every piece of me just died

The night I left the sky turned black
No stars no moon no light no grace
Just echoes of the man you were
and all the shadows in your place

And still
I do not curse your name
I do not howl or seek revenge
I only hope the storm you fed
will someday learn to make amends

And me
I walk through crypts of memory
past shattered glass and names unsaid
The ghost of you still stirs the air
but I no longer share your bed

The mirror doesn’t cry for you
The clock no longer skips a beat
Your voice is just a dying bell
that tolls in dreams but not in heat

I loved you once
a curse a spell
A ruin carved in ivory bone
But now I wear my silence well
and sleep each night
entirely alone

You wanted worship not a wife
Devotion not a soul to keep
But I have climbed out from your tomb
and left you to your aching sleep

So let the chapel rot in dust
Let roses choke on thorns and wine
I’ve buried what you could have been
and none of it was ever mine
