First Paid Subscriber
(This will be a daily or weekly journal entry to keep you updated on my writing journey and life in general. On my blog, Tumblr and Substack)
I was driving around Skewen when my phone pinged. I pulled over, ready to nip into the shop, and then bam. My first paid subscriber.
Since my writing blog started in April 2025, I’ve had over 4,036 views, along with plenty of comments and likes, but never a paid subscription. This felt different. It made it all worthwhile.
It’s not that I doubt I can write. It’s more whether my writing is worthy. Self doubt is such a bitch.
But now I’ve also registered my interest in a Creative Writing degree, and I can feel something shifting. This late bloomer is starting to believe in herself.
I’ve always had the gift of the gab, so why not pursue what I’m actually good at? Communication. Emotion. Telling it straight like it is. Taking the reader with me.
I’ll be 61 by the time it’s done, and I’m genuinely excited.
Time to invest in me.
Signing off with fire
