Eternal Sleep

by MissT

Intro:
Sometimes, the world feels relentless. Some days, the storms, the grief, and the weight of giving are more than we can bear. This poem is a quiet confession, an honest whisper of exhaustion and a longing for peace. It’s for anyone who has felt the world too heavy on their shoulders, and for the small hope that rest — emotional, spiritual, and eternal — might one day arrive.

Poem:

I’m tired of fighting,
of living, of trying,
I’m tired of giving
my love to the dying.

This life has no mercy,
its blessings too few,
the storms and the thunder,
the grief of the true.

Take what I have left,
to death I surrender;
the soil seems to soothe me,
the darkness — so tender.

Please give me peace,
O Lord, I beseech Thee,
I’m tired of nightmares,
kindness can’t reach me.

Let me go to my slumber,
eternal and free,
let worries be gone
from this life — let me be.
