MissT
I walked to the edge, body willing to fly,
fear in my heart and eyes to the sky.
A storm in his tongue left its salt in my chest,
I came for an ending, seeking some rest.
The cliffs leaned like gallows, the waves roared beneath,
their foam like white shrouds, their depths full of teeth.
The wind tore like talons, the night’s hollow breath,
one step and I’d sink to a bridegroom of death.
He smiled like still waters, but darkness ran deep,
his truths on deception, his vows shred on reefs.
He carved at my body with cruelty’s blade, and shamed what was mine
while his own self decayed.
I gave him my all, every kindness, my years,
he answered with shadows, with jibes and with sneers.
He mocked what I carried, called beauty my weight,
but cliffs do not crumble at words born of hate.
I was broken when little, raised under a tongue
that lashed without mercy, where no song was sung.
But the sea taught me strength, and the hills made me whole
,their patience and power stitched peace to my soul.
Yet the tide held a power the broken don’t see,a voice in its breakers that thundered through me.
The hillsides stood steadfast, the cliffs would not fall, they carried my sorrow and lifted it all.His words were like tempests that battered my frame,my body the target, his thunder of blame.
But betrayal’s not mine, nor cruelty my sea;the wreckage is his — it won’t anchor me.
Boats like pale phantoms drifted out from the quay, ferries like kingdoms sailed far out to sea
.Their horns called to harbours I’d never have known, yet promised: this world is still yours to own
.I sat on the ledge where despair should begin, but lightning gave way to the sun on my skin.
The ocean, unbroken, sang fierce and anew
,its storm-washed horizon gave back what was true.
Like birds on the cliff edge, my spirit will fly
,it cannot be broken, it cannot die.
Not cruelty, nor shame, nor deceit can defeat, with truth at my side and the clouds at my feet.
At the edge of Angle, my spirit found peace, not death in the water,
but a soul’s sweet release.
