When shadows took the stage

Some mornings begin in silence. Some begin in sorrow. This piece came from one of those mornings—where the weight of memory, grief, and old monsters settled in before the sun had a chance to rise. But as always, light returns… and so do I.

When Shadows Took the Stage
by MissT

The day woke dark inside my heart,
Shadows crept inside
Took centre stage within my space,
And tore my world aside.

Where willows weep and twilight creeps,
And shadows steal the light,
Where silence fills the empty void,
Then splinters through the night.

Where monsters lurk beneath my bed,
And whisper through the gloom,
While moonlight climbs the tired walls
And haunts this quiet room.

This is where my heartache sleeps
And stirs the dark again.
This is where my sadness comes
To dim the light within.

This is where my memories drift,
And dance across my mind,
Like branches reaching for the sun,
Too tangled to unwind.

The sun creeps in, the night retreats,
The day begins once more.
My eyes, they wander to the sea,
Where waves kiss on the shore.

The light replaces nighttime’s hold,
And so I rise again
To face the world with mind renewed,
And be my own best friend.

If this poem speaks to a part of you, maybe the part that still battles shadows, or the one learning to be your own best friend , know you’re not alone. Healing doesn’t always roar. Sometimes, it whispers, “I’m still here.”
